Ok so im working with team of people putting together a Solar Vehicle to race in what was the Dell Winston solar car challenge it is now the Hunt Winston solar challenge. So any way we are putting together a carbon fiber body and titanium frame the total weight should come out to 700lb including batteries and such.
Now my problem I have no idea what batteries or motor to get. Our last car was a newbish car lol. It used lead acid and a 48v etek motor with a curtis controller.
So now we need a lighter battery pack and a good hub motor so whats i need some ideas. Another issue is how to get the power from solar into the batteries we have a DC-DC inverter for the panels that regulates 12-96volts from the array.
At this point im trying to wrap my head around various batteries and motors but its all a bit confusing and i would like suggestions from people with experience with this stuff .

Thanks :D

hello and welcome to the forum!
first off do you really need a hub motor they Wight a lot and are inefficient. try getting a high voltage motor then u need that will raise the efficient (so I have heard) . and you must try to go brush less! brush less motors are %95-%90 efficient are brushed %75 efficient. either use a lifepo4 or a lipo battery pack.
cheers,
