new tsdz8 pswpower

Gentlemans,
Few years ago i have play with TSZD2 with OSF, now time for TSZD8 come.
I have bought few weeks ago 8 with 860C and based on tutorials started from firmware update to 860C. I've prepared new cable for new display plug - before update checked power supply - was ok. After proper update process display not turns on. Tried with 860C_V13-v20.1C.5-bootloader and then with V20, V12 - no positive result. I attach photo of my 860C version. What do You guys suggest to do now?

Have you checked that is not a UART display with the supplier?

Not, i have thinked all works on the same rule, not found info about other possibilities

I see - there may be a problem with 860C hardware - other for bafang other for tszd. I bought it as a kit with tszd8 from pswpower - that's display for tszd probably.
Is there any solution now or display to trash?

You probably would get better feedback if you posted in the OSF thread, but I believe the display needs to be flashed with the mbrusa firmware before flashing the controller.
 
I assume you have been here TSDZ8 OSF (open source firmware) I looked on the pswpower are your sure the 860C from there is the correct one as with the TSDZ8 they seem to showing the 850C, message pswpower, but the circular connector is UART and the triangular connector is CAN. Recheck your programing method and cables, I did have for example my TX and RX wires transposed, did the programing software show the data being uploaded onto the display.

I've attached a photo of my display earlier – it's an 860C. The cables, FTDI, and method seem to be fine – as I can flash the original firmware and the original Bafang firmware without any issues. It's just that the 860C doesn't work with the OSF flashed.
 
Fitted the new Varstrom TSDZ8 to the wife's bike. Test ride revealed 150W on level 1/5, level 2 around 250W, then level 3/4/5 the power really comes in. With strong leg power I saw over 800W being given in assistance on level 5.

She will use level 1 mainly for extended range. The motor is smooth, quiet with a gentle whirr. The motor doesnt kick forward, when stopped and you accidentally press the pedals, you need to start moving before power is fed in smoothly.

This is all stock programming.

The wife doesn't like the EKD01 display, too small to read figures.

So I've ordered the 2025 Varstrom E-Bike Display SW2-M58 - 3.8" Full Color LCD Screen for Tongscheng motors. Hopefully this is just plug and play.

I'll tidy up the wiring once the new display is fitted. The old TSDZ2 OSF from 2018 will be reused elsewhere on family members bike.
 
I have a TSDZ8 750 watt mid-drive motor, for which I ordered a J-link programmer. My question is: does anyone have a proven backup for the TSDZ8 parameter configurator program? I would like the bike to accelerate quickly in throttle mode (currently it accelerates slowly) and reach a top speed of 55 km/h (currently 50 km/h is the maximum). I would also like it to accelerate efficiently in assist mode, without having to pedal with high torque. What values need to be changed in the parameter configurator program mentioned above to achieve this? My display is EKD01.
 
Hello I bought a TSDZ8 from PSW last week and it arrived yesterday.
I Installed it (it's the third motor I Install without issues) in substitution of a DM02 500W.
Today I went for a ride 31km.
Around 15km the display went off. I tried to turn on but no response.
Then I went to see my BMS app and the power was turned off due to a short circuit.
Turned on the display started with err 06
Then I turned off again and then on and the motor started.
After some Km same thing.
Then after some long light descent without pedalling the assistance didn't gave power. I had to stop and then start again, without reboot and the power started to work.
Then at the end of the trip I passed through a little hole (all the trip was asphalt) and err 30 came on display. After that dead motor.. no response.
I tried to disconnect and reconnect all cables two times.
Nothing to do.
What shall I do?
I think I will disassemble all the wires to control if there is continuity between pins and no short circuit.
Do you have a pin scheme?

So it seems what you have could be 0x06 Low Voltage Protection and 0x30 Communications Error which would shut the drive down. I have come off the instructions for a SM-M58 manual. So have you damaged the display cable? User Manual M58_Bafang+Tongsheng_V6.04.pdf
No. At home I disconnected and carefully inspected the three plugs that I use.
Display, speed sensor and main plug and they are all perfect. All pins are straight...
The other plugs are sealed and gathered in safe position.
My battery is 48V20A with a BMS 40A continuous, 90A peak. XT90 connectors.
May be some cable inside the controller housing could be detached, infact the error rised in the same moment I hit a small pothole.
Or defective cable
Or defective controller.
Who knows
 
Daft question question I known I assume you have power coming out of the battery it's self? I am more into the TSDZ2(B)s, what display do you have on the 8? you may have dropped a wire in the controller but I would go there yet, following doe's show the insides of the 8 Tongsheng TSDZ8 750W 48V teardown, disassembly I have a friend bring a bike back I built for him and the only thing wrong was the battery had jumped 3 mm on it's mount disconnecting it's self, regarding the display I have had a new one pack up on me.

Battery is working
I have a B02NU display.
May be some connections inside the controller detached. I'm waiting a feedback from PSW that must tell me I can disassemble the controller without loosing warranty
 
I order a lot of parts from PSW without any problems but feel they are more a stockist, not sure on their technical ability. I believe they will offer a refund / replacement. I have brought a couple of returns, one is my 48V TSDZ2B which I repaired quite easily and cheaply. The other reason I asked about the battery is some have a fuse in the battery's base. Normally most connectors within the motor will have a dab of silicone sealant on them or a clip to stop them coming apart.

Because I didn't pay attention and during assembly I see that TDZ8 (with VLCD5(it was the cheapest)) is coming with "male" just like from SW102... (

I think to cut female from VLCD5 or from old TSDZ2B and try to solder to sw102 wire...

But I don't know if it will be enough to solder according to the location, or could something be different (for example, "ground" and "5b" mixed up, etc.)?
Do all 8 pin cables have the same pinout?

The battery is DIY and I put a fuse outside it. It works otherwise the display should't turn on..
They gave me a complete untechnical reply like:
err 06
before you turn on LCD you can not touch pedal , it is means turn on the LCD before you ride ebike, if you touch pedal before turn on LCD, the LCD will show ERROR code 6, the torque sensor can not get ambient pressure before turn on LCD
They probably stopped reading at the first part of my message...
And didn't understand, because I wrote that the err 06 came while pedalling together with BMS going in protection due to short circuit somewhere

Now they want a photo of the label attached to my motor, don't know why because the motor was purchased a week ago and installed the day before I got problems.
Let's see what happens next
 
pieri70 just go with the flow at the moment with PSW, believe it's standard procedure, I have had to do that before where they wanted I think from memory an engraved code under the foil label, but that may have changed slightly now.
 
Colleges, is the 8pin pinout of the TSDZ8 (male) is the same as that of the TSDZ2B (female)?

I have this on my SW102 (and ekd01, which worked with TSDZ2B before)

From what I've measured myself, to connect SW102 (after TSDZ8) to TSDZ8, you need something like this:

To clarify, my previous TSDZ2B (8pin-female) was purchased with EKD01 (and later SW102 was installed without any cable changes) — it was a Bafang pinout?
as far as I understand correctly... now I have purchased TSDZ8 (8pin-male) with VLCD5, and it is already a Tongshen pinout...?

Perhaps someone has a transition diagram from vlcd5. -> sw102/ekd01? will be appreciate

Hi, no I never did find such a cable unfortunately, and was stuck with the VLCD5 until I swapped the controller from previous, mechanically broken, tsdz8.

I soldered everything and checked it many times with a tester - everything is according to the schematic

Then flashed OSF_TSDZ8_860C_KATANA_V00_01_35.hex using J-LinkV9

But the SW102 display stubbornly shows: "Waiting for TSDZ2..."

P.S. Just for testing purposes, I flashed the original firmware and connected VLCD5 - the motor is working.)

P.P.S. I also checked it according to this diagram (at least the brakes and throttle) — everything matches and I have the same thing.

As a side track for a second, one major supermarket chain had their brand new supply warehouse go down for a weekend due to a cleaner who was vacuuming the control room carpet unplugging an ethernet cable so she could get the vacuum cleaner past it.

I completely agree with you, but I have a bigger "problem" than Rx/Tx))

I cut off the "female" from the my old TSDZ2B motor, which was connected to EKD01 (i.e., the same Bafang-standard as SW102), and I have to solder it to the Bafang-wiring harness, which will be connected to the Tongsheng "father" on the motor.
And now I'm really confused with all of these...))
