Would it be easier to just have the axle cut down if you didn't want too much sticking out?

Don't do that, you want maximum thread. If you you a long nut, you can torque it down tighter and not damage the threads.

What do you guys think of these rims for the front?

Its carbon fiber, duh! They can make it ust compatible for tubless...

What do you not like about it?

I don't dislike anything about it, probably other than the high price.

I am just wondering why you would want to go with this. How much money is it?

I guess i like it because its different. I was looking for the lightest downhill wheel because my back wheel is sooooooooo heavy, lol. Im not worried about cost.

I would go with a carbon fiber rear wheel. 2x stronger then aluminum wheels and lighter! I just don't know if they make them in the size you will need.

I have a couple of 19x1.4 prowheels. They are pretty nice. I was looking for rubber and most of the 3" moto tire recommend a 1"+ wide rim. I also thought an 18" would be good so i got an excel 18x1.85 but it is pretty heavy. I plan change up the wheels on my bomber so i dont mind having extras. Where can i get a downhill carbon 19" or 18" that is wide? I think i will try a heidenau k65 rear tire. I wish i could find out how much they weigh.

@ Offroader....
i know the space i need i have to fill up with washers. but there WAS not enough space.
Now my buddy shortens the steeldisc side 4mm. Now it fits. On Freewheel Side theres O N E millimeter left/space for the washers.
tomorrow i make some pics.
I had some Problems to run my hope brakes....the disc scratches....
i tried to allign it 1000 times. maybe it is to new :p
a few hours ago the cro starts his Life
so i checked if the disc or the motor wiggles a bit. Cant see it clearly, but it is not really much.

and look at the space after freewheel....

0,2mm?
this is without spreading dropout.
but i have shortend the discside spacer/mount about 4mm.
Disc Clearance now 2mm.
Lets say my Shimano Freewheel sux!? :p

I've had this problem with every motor I have had. My Crystalyte HS3540 is the worst, I can barely use a disk brake on it because I have to have the caliper so wide.
I'm thinking of going to a rim brake on that motor to avoid having to use a disk.

What would be great is to mount the wheel in a lathe and machine off the face of the disk mount so that it is actually flat but I'm no machinist so not sure how you would do that.

Kudos

Drool......

More fine work from glowworm bicycles!
I dont know if you posted before but did you get the Shinkos from here in Australia or import them ?

Hi Hyena,

The Shinkos are imported. Couldn't find them readily available anywhere here.

I've got a friend living in San Fran, so free shipping to them, then they repack and send to me.

Cane Creek Double Barrel purchased! Ended up going for the 10.3x3.5 with a 450lbs spring (I weigh 210-22lbs depending on what I've eaten) and grabbed the 40x8 mounts. Should arrive early next week!

If you friend in Frisco is sending them to you by way of USPS, he is in for a sticker shock. But if he has a see freight hook up, will very affordable. Very beautiful Raptor in the works.

Hi Rick,

No idea what you mean by stick shock. He used TNT express and it was less than $100AUD to ship 3 tyres, tubes, and rim tape.

That's not a bad price. I sent Hyena two tires last year, it cost $257 USD. The SR241 is really great tire for bigger ebikes. I have tried so many and I keep going back to them, especially on the rear. My next tire I am going to try out is the VeeRubber VRM021 2.75x19. It will be a while though as I don't have any motors laced up to a 19x1.4 rim at this moment. All of the are 18x1.4 or 17x1.4. I just swapped my 2.75x18 SR241 for a IRC 2.75x18 TR1. Just like when I tried these tires on the 17x1.4 rim, the IRC is 95% as good as the SR241, the lack of aggressive side knobs and the IRC is 1/2" about 12.5mm narrower than the SR241 becomes apparent when turning sharp at speed in loose corners. Anyway the reason I mention these other tires is that they may be readily available in Australia and if that's the case, more economical.

Rick

$170 is not crazy but expensive, They also make them in 36h config! Can also make custom graphics. OK getting a hard on here! Wish they made a rear 19" version SIgh!

The shinko 241 is indeed a great tire almost perfect. I've yet to loose traction with it. The tire just sticks to everything, except wet leaves on concrete of course.

One time I was in a dirt trail and on a turn I noticed the bike surprisingly slip out a little but still held. I was curious as it never slips and went back and noticed that there was deep sand in that location.

The tire does wear fast, I'm estimating about 1500 miles before nobs are worn down a considerable amount, but I could be wrong here. If you guys are not going to off-road the bike and strictly drive it on the street then you may be better off with a different tire, especially if you have to pay a lot of money to ship it to Australia.

in the reviews I think people commented on wearing the shinko 241 super fast, like 500 miles with some dual purpose motorcycles.

The compound is soft, but this is a good thing for optimal traction on a light weight ebike vs a heavy motorcycle. Any bicycle knobby tire would wear out in like 500 miles on a raptor.

They will make a custom mold for 5500 USD. Anyone want to group buy a super expensive 18x1.85 carbon fiber rim? Lol.

Who will do that?

Something like this would be interesting, especially if you get custom spoke holes which align themselves with a cromotor.

Don't most people want a 19x1.4 rim? Why 18"?
