At some point would it not be unhelpful to further thin the laminations due to transferring thickness from steel to adhesive layers? Taken to extremes, a stator of .01mm thick lams would be mostly glue and not magnetic material. This implies some point at which thinner lams do not help because the magnetic material density is decreased by more than eddy current losses are decreased.

0.2-0.25mm is where you will find the practical limit, and the returns on thinner laminations beyond that will be greatly diminished anyhow.

0.2mm would be great. Either that, or a switched reluctance/reactance motor and control system that eliminates cogging torque losses altogether and is so efficient that it allows you to get 20+ kW peak and 4+ kW cont out of a 5 lb motor. The technology 10 years ago existed for this.

Can some one confirm the bearing size on 1500W 35mm leaf? On both sides that is. Need to replace mine aftre 10yrs of use.

Uhm so noone know the bearing size of this OG motor? It is for the rear with screw on freewheel.

That's a pretty old motor at this point, you might have to bust out a set of calipers to find out :O

I feared that. So on cable side it was 6204RZ and 6003RS on freewheel side.

"RZ" means one rubber seal and one metal shield. "RS" means rubber seals. The numbers are the bearing sizes you need but the seals hardly matter.

The seals do matter. Over-tighten one of the metal seals, and it will fail/deform and eventually get caught inside the bearings. Ask me how I know.

Has anyone here tried the new single-side axle motors from Leafbike? I'm not exactly sure what bikes/trikes/quads that they will fit to, nor know their axle length/width. When considering the use of these motors and a donor bike to put them on, it would be helpful to know these variables. I have in mind a quad "truck" build that would be perfect for an 11T winding of these, if I can be assured the motors will fit. They also might be of use for a performance application in the future in a 3T wind.
