0.2-0.25mm is where you will find the practical limit, and the returns on thinner laminations beyond that will be greatly diminished anyhow.At some point would it not be unhelpful to further thin the laminations due to transferring thickness from steel to adhesive layers? Taken to extremes, a stator of .01mm thick lams would be mostly glue and not magnetic material. This implies some point at which thinner lams do not help because the magnetic material density is decreased by more than eddy current losses are decreased.
0.2mm would be great. Either that, or a switched reluctance/reactance motor and control system that eliminates cogging torque losses altogether and is so efficient that it allows you to get 20+ kW peak and 4+ kW cont out of a 5 lb motor. The technology 10 years ago existed for this.
