New to ebike world...considering the Photon for the torque sensor feature instead of Bafang, but prefer the shark battery over the CYC battery.
Would I be able to connect the shark battery to the Photon motor without modifying the connector/plug?

With CYC you can use any battery with female XT90 plug

That's my main concern with the CYC Photon is the lack of a repair path - I'm looking towards the BBSHD rather than the Photon ...

Already 800 km for each of the 2 Photon motors.
Nothing loose. The chainring is solid without any looseness.
These motors deserve to be classified A1. Today at a temperature of 25C, the engine temperature never exceeded 50C over a distance of 45 km and a few uphill climbs at 10% and for an average speed of 24 km/h.
My question is when should the internal mechanism be lubricated?
The sound level is as at the beginning.
If this motor continues to perform like this, its purchase price will soon be forgotten.

What are you saying about the sound level?
Edit: sorry, now I see you're saying it hasn't changed since new.

FWIW, most maintenance recommendations I've seen that gives two intervals means you should do that maintenance at the shorter of the two, whichever comes first.

The grease we use is MOLYKOTE® BR-2 Plus High Performance Grease or any equivalent. It's lithium-thickened and uses molybdenum disulfide as solid lubricant.

Does anyone know of or can recommend a more generally available equivalent?

local seller told me 2yrs ago that every cyc needs to be regreased at interval selected upon type of use ...and they sell gears for planetary gear not for fun but they wear off and need to be replaced sometime...sooo

Please make a Youtube video of the process since CYC apparently haven't done that and so the rest of us don't need to reinvent the wheel. I have a Photon coming but won't rack up the miles on it to need greasing very soon since I still ride my pedal bikes a lot.

Personally, I will re-grease the gears at 5000 km because that is the distance we travel each year.

For a battery, any e-bike lithium battery equipped with an XT90-style female power output plug and with a nominal output voltage between 36-52V should work, with the higher voltage batteries better contributing to motor efficiency.

Also, if you want to take advantage of the motor's full power capability, the battery's continuous current output rating must be up to the task.

Depends where you live, among other factors. Also type of bike and type of frame, where you like to ride, what range you really need, and how much performance do you require, how much you want to spend.

I'd personally go with a 48 or 52v system, the Photon might be a bit wasted if used with 36V though it will still work fine.

Not sure if it means that they have Photons in stock if they say shipping takes only 15 workdays? So they might have warehouse somewhere closer than Hong Kong then? Hard to understand which dealer is the best to use in Europe or just use the cyc website directly. Add photon to cart and you will...

You can change it from 3 to 9 (gears).
But 3 assist levels is working perfect.

Thank you. I hope my new tsdz2b will last a long while, but my next motor will be a cyc. Where I live, terrain runs from wee hills to mountains. I'm a strong rider and usually use only enough power to counter the heavy bike. I like the nuances of many levels.

Trek marlin 6 gen 2, it is my profile pic.. .it does get hilly here, but it will be on the road far more than a trail, so you think no more than 52v? ? how many amps and what manufacturer of the battery do you suggest... thank you

Post #480 so just a few above yours claims cyc told them its recommended to regrease the gearbox every year or 2000km

There is toseven motor company and they seem to deliver good products and far better price ...so far only one guy tested one of the models but for me it looks more than promising

52v is max for Photon. I can't suggest your options but for me, I chose 30A max output in favor of larger capacity, 1.5kW (52V x 30A) is far more than I'd ever use.

Unfortunately my 1 week old Photon seems to have a dead torque sensor. It was intermittently not working and now doesn’t respond to any torque input at all. I’ve reset all app settings. The throttle works fine however.

Are CYC motors known for torque sensor issues? Anything else I should be looking at while waiting on support?
