Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

I am happy to be a beta tester, please send me the new controller and i wil test it for you

I try the cables and they work. Have one problem.

When i twist throttle the bike go 6km/h so far so good. but when i paddle the bike go full speed.
Even if i dont twist the throttle. I dont like that.

I was thinking it work like this.

When paddeling without twist the throttle the motor dont work.
When twist the throttle without paddeling the bike go 6km (that works)

When paddeling and twist the trottle the motor work but only at the level of the twistthrottle. Now i have to drive full speed always and
i am not able to paddle without the engine work.

Do i somthing wrong? or is tis how ik works.

I also like to have the escape button in Holland it is verry useful.

Great Product! I am loving this device more and more everyday. I have one annoyance with the software though. Could there be anyway to set the device to automatically append each trip info until the next recharge? An example of how I am currently using the software : I would power on the bike and ride to the store, while in the store the bike is outside and off (my battery disconnect switch is also a key), after visiting the store I would power on the e bike and ride home, at home I would power off the bike and put my items away or whatever then go back to the garage, turn on the bike and ride some trails. After riding the trails I would like to ride to the bar BUT I use the speedict device to check my Ah usage. The only way to check this is to turn on the device, synchronize the data, Create a "Per-charge history" entry, THEN add each of the trips I have made that day.

Is there anyway to have the data appended when we turn the device back on. Kinda like how the cycle analyst keeps adding to your stats until you reset it. You could have software keep adding to the current data file until a [Recharge] button is selected. At that point the software automatically create a new "per-charge history". It could either prompt the user to select which battery this is for and to name the new file or label it automatically with the data and a sequential number (i.e. 12/27/2012_1, 12/27/2012_2, 12/27/2012_3, ect) for multiple charges per day. that would save us from having to manually add our trip reports to the current "per-charge history" report.

Do you have any plans to release an SDK for the device, or release the android source for independent developers?

Again, thank you for a great product!

in road legal 1 or 2 you have 6km detection or activation features that make your system "road legal" of course you can disable it e.g. change the 6km "start power" to other like soft start with value, but for your requirement you want to use your throttle as pas enable or disable switch ? seem doesn't make any sense (please correct me when i was wrong) !

when you paddle it go full speed, it's problem ...

1. your pas is 1:1 ratio type ?
2. you use road legal 1 mode ?

and you can send your port status log to us, we can check what's wrong !

Speedict ebike android client's main menu -> Option -> Port Status, then press the main menu again -> record ... .
then you can twist throttle and paddle, system will monitor all ports' status and email the log to us

good luck

yes that is under "fuel gauge" features, can you pm your email address to me, make sure our enhancement list have your contact and so call "case study" !

I think Erikjan has found the same as what I discussed with you a few months ago concerning potentiometer throttle.
We want the pedal sensor to activate the motor with speed according to the throttle setting so that you can pedal with high or low power, or anything in between.

hi d8veh,

oh, you brought my memory back, so sorry we still owe you that particular function mode ha ha ...
ok wait for few days, we will code one function mode called "Potentiometer Mode"

let confirm the potentiometer mode :

1. connect potentiometer to port 2 (throttle input port), and port 4 output to speed controller's throttle input
2. you change value on potentiometer e.g. output 3V, your bike stand still until you start paddle, and speed ramp up (perhaps soft ramp) to 3V
3. e.g. when you want to stop at traffic light, all you have to do is stop paddle, and bike stop (no power), when traffic light turn green, you start paddle again to 3v, of course you can change your potentiometer level at anytime

please confirm ...

by the way last time you sent me your port status, we have discovered some weird potentiometer response on port 2 ? if you have time can you resend the log to me and we restart the investigation .

cheers,

danny

Sounds good to me, but for potentiometer we want to use the normal existing throttle handle. AND 6kmh on throttle should be possible without pedaling.

hi n!co,

what's mean by "6kmh on throttle should be possible without pedaling" ?

Hi Danny,

I mean that you that you can use the throttle to go at a max. speed of 6 km/h if you are not pedaling.

I think what we all want (especially in europe) is an easy accessible button, one click to go from legal mode to "offroad / no governor" mode and back.

Legal mode would be:
No pedaling: throttle can be used for speed of 0 to 6 km/h.
When pedaling: throttle can be use for speed of 0 to 25 km/h.

"offroad" mode would be:
No pedaling required, throttle up to unlimited or higher defined max. speed.

English is not my language either, but i cannot make it clearer that the above. :|

we have button called "panic button" before which is used to temporary enable governor or legal mode when needed, but took it our recently, with customers request recently we will re-design it, and our approach is slightly different than your ..

e.g. you have defined legal mode, so connected twist throttle, pas and throttle out to speed controller, normally you ride as full speed. speed throttle or current throttle (torque mode) with your defined max speed say 40km, whenever you need to govern it you wipe android screen as you call up the task bar, you see the enable governor button or feature, you immediately running legal bike ... with focus governor mode, we preset max speed to 25km and 6km activation without need to configure !
do you think it is what you want ?

next few weeks we will launch few features

1. potential mode that we owe customer long time
2. panic button, temporary enable governor
3. tts, text-to-speech feature ....

cheers,

danny

You have it exactly right for what i want, but some others will want the same, but use a normal throttle on port 2. I think the software would be the same.

I'll fit a new potentiometer to my bike because the last one was not very good, then I send you a new log - maybe tomorrow.

Yes, that sounds good! :D

How's the speedict controller going?

This little tool has so much potential for ebike. I was thinking that it can be a controller, and even more: he can be a BMS! It's such a pain to monitor or cells. But if there is a balance plug associated to the speedict, it could monitor the cells and battery bms could be optional lol!

A speedict that does both controller and bms, what else?

It is difficult explain wat we want in english for me. But try again.

the escape option sounds very good to me to.

But i also like a modification from roadlegal 2 mode.

It should work like the potentiometer mode.

When not paddeling and the twist throttle is used the bike go max 6km/h

When paddeling and twist throttle is not used motor do nothing

When paddeling and twist throtlle is used speedict send the throttle value to controller (1 ~ 4,7V like the potentio mode) independent of pas speed but with a max of 25km/h.

No we don't want the throttle as pas enable disable swicch. We want the PAS as throttle enable or disable switch. Thats legal in holland an we can use the throttle to choose the degree of support. Thats wat we want.

hi erikjan,

i don't get it ! your requirement exactly what "road legal 2" doing !

Then i do someting wrong, i try again when i have some time.

But if legal 2 mode is doing the thing, and you add the panic option if you decribe the speedict is even more useful and i like it verry much.
Keep up the good work :)

I have to say your service is very good!!

yes road legal actually mainly for EU countries

I do not know what i do wrong.

I cant get it work like i want.

When i paddle back home i wil make a log.

I try diverens settings.

I select 6km/h mode,
5 magnet pas and try 60rpm 100% and 120 rpm 100% and 60rpm 1%
I select the low and high throttel point that works good to.
I select speed throttle

Hi Danny.
I think I'm in love with your product by the way  :D

Just a couple of questions dont want to bog you down.
Is there an Australian reseller
and
tehnical questions, forgives in advance for previous attended to.
1.If the phone goes off for any reason does the speedict default to predefined options, so can just ride till got phone working.
2.Guys are asking in regards to cell readings and alarms for battery protection, could it be possible to interface via cellogs like those from hobbyking which are renowned for superior accuracy, and read/display their data via your USB port, think would be even more in love then :D.

speedict ebike work independently with android phone since all setting store inside speedict ebike, android smart client work as display and control console.

theoretically yes, however up to this moment we don't have any plan for external device i/o via usb yet !

Thanks for the prompt reply Danny.

Put an order in via your web site Cheers.

The main features I would like to add are phase current meter,
-second rpm meter for the motor ( to estimate the chosen gear),
-and a "info bar" which stays on top in my android phone if i use the navi software
-connectivity to pedal torque estimator (like the ones thun sells for example).

there is so much which should be connected to the speedict, if one sets it into the center of the e-bike control. there are many computers on a bike which should be connected. The BMS is only one of these chips. the phase current computer is a second... and so on. It would be nice to see all this connected by a single standard like CAN. It has to be wire because of safety issues. The monitor interface can be bluetooth, cause it doesn't affect safety. I don't know what the mentioned usb interface would be good for :?: all the stuff we do with the speedict is non real time, so why should we do not use bluetooth? it does all we want, doesn't it?

the 6km/h, 25km/h button is also one thing that makes me think more about buying this. thx for dealing with this!
