4motus / cromotor DH bike build

I think I will open it up and solder the leads directly to the pcb and remove the pins, as its a bit lethal otherwise lol.

So, what are you doing this weekend then ? :D

busy busy busy ! , Iv got to finish unlacing the old 9mm axle hub from the front wheel, then re lace it with the 20mm through axle hub, that will be the front wheel done then. Im going to attempt to fit the front fork to the frame but I'm pretty sure the steerer is too short, so I think I need to but a new lower crown for it. Iv also got to start building the parallel and series looms for the battery pack and putting the foam tape inside the battery box to keep them snug. Most of the other stuff im still waiting for to arrive, so I wont be lacing up the cromotor until it actually arrives along with the rim. I just realised I need to order a bushing kit for the rear shock too as Fox only likes to give you a bush in one end for some reason.

This is my new least favourite job !, so I unlaced the old 9mm axle hub and re laced it with a 20mm through axle hub that fits the Rokshox forks. Just need to get it trued up now, think im going to see if I can find a bike shop to do it, as its driving me crazy now lol.

Nice wheel build! looks good from my house :)

I did this same thing a few months ago for the first time. I thought it was going to be awful, But it was pretty simple. Trueing the wheel was almost easier than building it once u get into it.

Fyi love the frame I'm sure many will be following your same path, as will I

Thanks !, just waiting for the hub motor and the rear rim to arrive now, I have the spokes and nipples and tape, so all ready to go as soon as it arrives. By the time I got to truing the wheel it was getting on to about half midnight I think lol, so I had little to no patience left :D

Sent my payment to Svyatoslav today for the BMS, Max-E plus the charging gizmo, so all good, means I can crack on with the build now without freaking out whether its going to be held up by the controller now, so all good !. By the time it makes its way from Russia, I should hopefully have the bike built and be ready to roll, as I think it takes a month or more to come from what iv seen.

By the way, does anyone know what size freewheel I will need ?, the drop outs on the frame is 150mm, the cromotor is 145mm, haven't got a brake disk yet, as im not sure what sized freewheel I need ?. The front is a 46 tooth.

Frame looks real nice! How much was it shipped to the UK and was the shock included?

Was £600 and something, I had a few bits extra on it, so was a bit more than usual, if you have an alloy frame the price is different too. I wanted something built like a tank so if I fancied it I could totally crank the hell out of the cromotor without it ripping the frame to bits, plus u wanted to use it for downhill too so needed to stand up to rough ground well. If you take a look on 4motus.com and email them they are really helpful and can add whatever you want to the frame and can even build it for you if you like. No I bought the shock myself.

More bits have arrived !.

Big ass 3000w power supply for charging.

3KW charger !

I was pleased this weekend upgrading to a 1KW charger, it's put 1AH into my 6S LiPo every 2 mins.

3KW will be insane

Kudos

This is not a charger its a power supply, its only for use with the Max-E Controller, as it charges it in regen mode.

It plugs into here :

Which then charges the battery in regen through the controllers BMS :

Ah yes I meant PSU. I actually got a 1 KW server PSU myself.

That setup looks awesome, thanks for taking so many pictures I'm wanting to build something very similar myself so all the pics really help.

Cheers,
Kudos

No worries, lots more pics to come once I actually start really building it, as at the moment its just putting a few parts together and waiting on the rest to arrive.

I just love lacing up wheels !, its my new least favourite hobby lol, both front and back are now all laced up, ready to be taken to the bike shop to get trued up, as I don't have the patience for it.

Nope I'm in Lincolnshire, about 45 mins from sherwood forest and a hour and a bit from the peak districts big hills

The motor came from Wimbikes , but 4motus.com sell them too in Europe for about £100 less, he just didn't have any in stock when I wanted to order otherwise I would order one, he is also working on a liquid cooled cromotor too.

The steerer is too short, so I'm having to buy a new lower crown @ £130 argh, not overly happy, but least I can put the forks on the bike then. I was going to use a steerer extension, but thought there is no point, cutting corners now.
